Summary: The relevance of the article is due to the increased level of social conflicts in the system of Russian education. The analysis of the sources allowed the author to identify the main causes of social conflicts in the educational environment, which include: socio-political, economic and geopolitical changes at the beginning of the 21st century, the systemic crisis of the entire education system, numerous education reforms, increased loads of classroom and research work, total digitalization in the educational environment, emotional burnout of teachers. The polarization of the value-semantic orientations of the participants in the educational process, the commercialization of education, the increasing social stratification, the tendency towards an increase in the elitization of secondary and higher education are stated. The rigidity of the professional behavior of teachers in the increasingly complex conditions of technological dynamism, the weak motivation of students for learning activities, the low level of their general development, and social infantilism are also identified among the main causes of social conflicts. The author proposes the following measures to reduce social tension in the educational environment: the need to increase the social status of the teacher, reduce the duties assigned to him, reduce the classroom and research workload, the introduction of a special position of a university psychologist or mediator of conflicts, teaching students and teachers the basics of conflictology and orthobiotics, as well as strengthening educational work among schoolchildren and students and activating work to create a corporate culture for each educational institution, which will contribute to the formation of a single value-oriented educational space that is comfortable for both students and teachers.
