Summary: The article analyzes the fundamental socio-historical factors that determine the stability of communities and the possibility of crises in socio-political systems. They are located in the context of opposing the traditions of the so-called "Eastern" and "Western" countries. The author substantiates his point of view, according to which the features of the organization of social life, as well as the predominance of traditionalism or liberalism, could initially be determined by natural and climatic factors and conditions. On this basis, a significant variety of socio-cultural development of Eastern and Western countries was formed and developed within the framework of a single world space. In the social science literature, the opposition of the main characteristics of these countries has become established, which has led to a significant abstraction from the real processes of development of the modern world. The purpose of the study undertaken by the author is to analyze such a phenomenon as the crisis of modern Western democracy and the degeneration of liberalism into neoliberalism, as well as the presence of a certain stability in Eastern, Eastern European societies. Moreover, attention is drawn to the causes of the crisis of the first process and the basis for the stability of the second. The purpose of the article is to reveal the structure of the dialectical combination of Western values of individualism with the values of Eastern collectivism. A special role in this analysis is given to the consideration of the positions of the classics of Russian Slavophilism. The apparent contradiction between the Western and Eastern worlds, upon closer examination, breaks down into a large number of insignificant moments of a social nature. There are also a number of communities that cannot be attributed to these opposite structures according to the proposed characteristics. On the basis of the research undertaken, the author comes to the following conclusion - the dialectical inconsistency of the material and spiritual culture and ways of organizing social life will not lead to the inevitable clash of the Eastern and Western worlds. The most possible scenario for the development of events should be peaceful coexistence and mutually beneficial cooperation, the foundation of which should be the formation of a universal civilization. It, in turn, should be based on the principles of humanism, equality of all nations and nationalities, the exclusion of double standards in world politics and the dominance of the principle of objectivity in the information sphere.
